This course is designed to introduce teachers to the importance of Carol Dweck’s work on mindset. The workshop will use the book- Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. In the book, Dweck explains why it’s not just our abilities and talent that bring us success–but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn’t foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment, but may actually jeopardize success. Parents will also find this course helpful.
This course is designed to provide educators with an opportunity to engage in a Book Study of Understanding by Design by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe. This course provides a general foundation of knowledge skills and principles in curriculum and assessment.
